How can a Website Benefit My Church?
Maybe you or someone at your church is wondering why your church even needs a website. Your church has made it this far without one right? Well, times change and if your church is going to be successful in its mission, it must learn to adapt to the times.

When telephones became the primary source of communication, what did churches do? Did they say “we don’t need that technology”? No, they didn’t say that. The churches adapted to the change and took advantage of the new technology.

Fast forward to the present and you can see that the internet is one of the main avenues of communication and is the #1 source for information.  My question to you is why doesn’t your church have a website? Why hasn’t your church adapted to this advancement in technology. Why isn’t your church reaping all of the benefits that a modern website can offer? Simply put, your church needs a website.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret as to why your church needs a website: People expect you to have a website. If your church doesn’t have a website, you are missing out on the very people you are trying to reach.  I would like to share with you some of the benefits a website can provide to your church:

Your Church, open 24/7, 365
With a website, your church is basically open all day, everyday. They can hear your message and find out more about your church on any day and at any time.

World Wide Reach
A website extends your church’s reach all over the world. Any person, anywhere in the world with an internet connection, can find your site and learn about your church and more importantly, about Jesus Christ.  A website also extends your reach into the surrounding communities. There are people in your neighborhood who don’t plan to ever visit your church. That means that they will never know anything about your church…..unless you have a website. These people who don’t plan to visit your church will visit your website in a heartbeat. After finding out more about your church they may decide to pay you a visit.

Attract More Visitors
How can you expect to see a lot of visitors at your church if they don’t even know you exist? People aren’t going to look much in phone books for churches these days. They are going to go straight to the internet and if they cannot find your site, you don’t exist. Also, people want to know more about the churches they visit other than the name of the church and the address. People want to know what they are getting in to. Present these people with a great website, and they will be eager to come visit your church.

Improve Communication
This is one of the major benefits a website can have on a church. Does your church have an upcoming event? If you don’t have a website, your options are to make an announcement, mail everyone a letter, or call every member.  The first option is the obvious one but has a several problems:
1. Not everyone pays attention to announcements.
2. A lot of people forget the announcements.
3. Members that are absent never know about the announcements.

Mailing announcements or calling every member is just impractical. The solution is a website. With a website, all one has to do is post the announcement and it is then available to everyone. No more trying to remember announcements, just check the website!

Much More!
So much more can be done with a website. You can create an online community at your church’s website where ministers, members, and people in the community can all come together and discuss various topics.  Your pastor could write a daily devotion for the church. Newsletters could be posted on the site.

Maybe you need volunteers for a project or church ministry? Don't worry! You no longer have to rely on a signup sheet posted on your church’s bulletin board. Members can simply use the church website to sign up. Your website will also allow you to reach people in multiple ways. Your site can use pictures, audio, and video to connect with people.  So what are you waiting for? Get an attractive, custom, up-to-date site today!
