Does Your Business Need a Website?
Does your business need a website?
Yes. Your business needs a website. I don’t care what kind of business you have. If you are selling any kind of product or service, you need a website. Here’s why: The #1 place people go to find information is the internet.

Here is a story for you.
Bob is in town on vacation. He is looking for a great place to eat tonight. Bob picks up the telephone book and flips through to look for restaurants. He is particularly interested in eating Chinese food tonight. In the phone book, he sees two restaurants that interest him: China Surprise and Super China Buffet. The phone book offers him little information on either, but he does notice that Super China Buffet has a website.

Bob decides to fire up his laptop to find out more about Super China Buffet. He navigates to the Super China Buffet website and really likes what he sees. On the website, there is a full menu for Bob to preview, pictures of the buffet and a map that includes directions to the restaurant. The site also includes the restaurant’s operating hours, and buffet prices. Bob makes his choice. He is going to Super China Buffet.

Now Bob would have loved to see what China Surprise had to offer him, but they had no website. He had no way to conveniently preview their menu selection or check their prices. There was no way for China Surprise to show him pictures of the restaurant or give him a map with directions to the store. When he did call China Surprise, they put him on hold and never came back to the phone, so he hung up.

In the end, Super China Buffet won out because they realized the importance of having a web presence. They knew that people go to the internet for information and wanted to make sure that information about their restaurant was available online.

More and more people discovered Super China Buffet online and ended up visiting the restaurant. People enjoyed the food so much that they told all of their friends about it. China Surprise never created an online presence, so they had a hard time attracting new customers. Rising costs and lack of new revenue caused China Surprise to shut down. Super China Buffet became so popular that they had to open a second location. They purchased the old China Surprise restaurant and turned it into their second location.
